How to Measure Solid State Lithium-ion Diffusion using the Atlung Method for Intercalant Diffusion

A systematic investigation of the factors that affect lithium diffusion coefficient measurements in Atlung Method for Intercalant Diffusion (AMID) is carried out. Single crystal LiNi 0.6 Mn 0.2 Co O 2 used method development. The include electrode mass loading, separator thickness, electrolyte solvent choice and salt molarity, voltage interval sizes, open circuit relaxation time, C-rate choice, charge vs discharge direction. In an ideal diffusivity measurement method, none these listed should impact true material since it be a purely property. However, as we demonstrate here, all experimental parameters selected carefully to minimize cell resistance contributions so one can measure independent current We propose low loading design applicable methods consisting ultrathin coating (0.2 mAh cm −2 ), thin 1.5 M LiPF 6 ethylene carbonate: dimethyl carbonate 1:1 electrolyte. Additionally, show not dependent on or direction NMC622, compare AMID results Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration. Specific 15 min OCV time with 0.1 V intervals are suitable this measurement.
